Project
The aim was to develop novel measurement technology for wind turbine tower displacement for TAURON Polska Energia S.A. At the beginning of the project it was pure measurement system design. After successful tests of the measurement device with different vendors we have started the development of analytical software, capable of automatic analysis of tower movement enabling experts to draw conclusions and also giving recommendation of required actions to the owner of the windfarm. Thanks to introduced technology, system can deliver much more than previously anticipated and it is just a tip of the iceberg in terms of possible data analysis and benefits which comes with it.
Field Testing
Once system has been tested in house it was time to perform in-situ tests directly on wind turbine. We’ve gathered measurements in order to be able to analyse it and compare it against data from model of computer simulated turbine. It gave us reassurance that this technology has huge potential for Wind Turbine industry and it will be developed further by our team in the near future.
